Colorado Parks and Wildlife arrested a 69-year-old man accused of assaulting someone at Chatfield State Park's off-leash dog area. The agency is now asking other potential victims to come forward.

Laurence Burley was arrested Oct. 7 on a charge of first-degree assault in connection with an incident at the dog park in 2024, according to KDVR.

9News reported the assault occurred in November 2024.

CPW believes there may be additional victims connected to other incidents involving Burley, the agency said in a press release reported by multiple outlets. Investigators are looking for anyone who encountered Burley at either Chatfield State Park or Cherry Creek State Park.

According to an affidavit cited by 9News, the Oct. 7 arrest came after another altercation was reported at the park in September. The news outlets that reported on CPW's press release did not include additional details about what happened in either incident.

Victims have reported that Burley shined a flashlight into their eyes during altercations, according to CPW. He was reportedly accompanied by two German shepherds during the encounters.

CPW's press release described Burley as 5 feet 11 inches tall and approximately 185 pounds, with medium-length brown hair and hazel eyes, according to the Denver Gazette. He may drive a gray Mercury Mariner or a white Subaru, according to KRDO and 9News.

The charges against Burley are accusations. He has not been convicted.

Anyone who believes they may have been involved in an altercation with Burley at either state park is asked to email CPW Officer Timothy Abt at [email protected].
