A small plane went off a runway at Centennial Airport on Wednesday, Oct. 28, while landing. The pilot exited safely and reported no injuries.
The Cessna 180, carrying only the pilot, went off the side of Runway 17R at about 3:50 p.m., according to a post on X by Centennial Airport.
South Metro Fire Rescue said on X that crews responded to the aircraft emergency just before 4 p.m.
In a follow-up post, the agency said the pilot had safely exited the plane before firefighters arrived. South Metro Fire Rescue's hazmat team then worked to offload remaining fuel from the aircraft.
FOX31 Denver reported on the emergency response Wednesday afternoon.
Neither Centennial Airport nor South Metro Fire Rescue has publicly stated what caused the plane to leave the runway. It is not clear whether the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has opened an investigation.
